Adani Solar Creates History with 15,000 MW Milestone

India’s renewable energy sector has reached a defining moment as Adani Solar, the solar manufacturing arm of Adani Group, achieves a historic feat by shipping over 15,000 megawatts (MW) of solar modules. This makes it the first and fastest Indian company to achieve such a scale, signaling a new era of self-reliance and clean energy leadership.Out of the total shipments, 10,000 MW were installed across India while 5,000 MW were exported to international markets, demonstrating the company’s growing global presence. This figure translates to around 28 million solar modules spread over nearly 7,500 football fields, powering millions of homes and industries with sustainable energy.Around 70% of these modules were produced using Adani’s India-made solar cells, making this success not only a commercial victory but also a testimony to the strength of the “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives. With its end-to-end manufacturing capabilities — from ingots and wafers to modules and solar glass — Adani Solar stands as a complete ecosystem player in India’s green energy revolution.Currently, Adani Solar operates with a production capacity of 4,000 MW, which is set to expand to 10,000 MW by the next financial year. The company has already announced plans to ship another 15,000 MW in the coming years, supported by its robust distribution network spread across more than 550 districts and 35 dedicated channel partners. The environmental impact of this achievement is equally remarkable. According to company officials, Adani Solar’s contribution helps power over 5 million homes with clean energy, has created more than 2,500 green jobs, and prevents nearly 60 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually — a significant contribution to combating climate change.India’s solar manufacturing capacity has experienced exponential growth — from just 2.3 GW in 2014 to an estimated 100 GW by 2025. A report by research firm Wood Mackenzie highlighted that India is on course to surpass 125 GW of solar module capacity by 2025, far exceeding domestic demand. This positions the country as a key global contender to challenge China’s long-standing dominance in solar supply chains.Adani Solar’s leadership extends to the rooftop solar segment, where it has supplied 1.78 GW of modules in the last year, enough to provide electricity to nearly 600,000 homes. The company also supplies more than half of the modules for the government’s “Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana,” aimed at bringing solar power to 10 million households by 2027.As India moves rapidly toward its goal of achieving 500 GW of clean energy capacity by 2030, Adani Solar’s milestone underscores the country’s strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and self-reliance. In many ways, this 15,000 MW achievement is more than just a number — it’s a symbol of India’s new power: clean, green, and made at home.
