Natural gas is a non-renewable fossil fuel primarily composed of methane that is extracted from underground reservoirs. It serves as a significant energy source for heating, cooking, and electricity generation, and is also a valuable feedstock for chemicals like fertilizers. Considered a relatively cleaner fossil fuel than coal or oil, it's transported via pipelines as a gas or, for longer distances, liquefied into LNG.
