Bihar's Game-Changer: Weekly Power Complaint Hearings Start Jan 19 Under Saat Nischay 3 – Relief for Saran Consumers!

Bihar's electricity consumers, especially in districts like Saran, have long battled issues like billing disputes, power outages, and faulty meters. Endless office runs and delayed resolutions have frustrated households and businesses alike. But relief is here! Under the ambitious Saat Nischay-3 scheme's seventh resolve—"Sabka Samman: Jeevan Aasaan" (Ease of Living)—the Bihar government launches mandatory weekly complaint hearings starting January 19, 2026. This initiative promises swift justice at every supply circle, division, sub-division, and section office across the state.

Energy Secretary and Bihar State Power Holding Company Ltd (BSPHCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Singh issued strict directives via video conference with all supply circle officials. "Officers must be present on designated days to hear and resolve complaints on the spot," he emphasized. The schedule is fixed: Mondays from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, and Fridays from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Consumers can walk in directly—no prior appointments needed.

At division offices, Executive Engineers will preside; Assistant Engineers at sub-divisions, and Junior Engineers at sections. This ensures accountability at every level. To enhance user experience, offices must provide seating, drinking water, clean toilets, and other essentials. All complaints will be formally registered with time-bound resolutions tracked digitally.

Executive Engineer Raju Kumar highlighted the benefits: "Twice a week, consumers meet officers face-to-face. This speeds up redressal, cutting down unnecessary visits." For Saran district—home to growing rural electrification and renewable projects like solar pumps—this means faster fixes for issues tied to Bihar's push towards 500 GW renewables by 2030.

This move aligns with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's vision for a developed Bihar. By streamlining power services, it reduces daily hassles, boosts trust in government utilities like NBPDCL and SBPDCL, and supports energy transition goals. Imagine farmers in Saran no longer losing crops to outages, or households resolving high bills instantly.

As Bihar advances in solar, EVs, and green hydrogen, reliable power grievance mechanisms are crucial. Mark your calendars for January 19—your voice will be heard! Share this with affected consumers and stay tuned for updates on Bihar's energy revolution.
